How I Am Using AI In My Editing | MW Photography | Minneapolis Wedding Photographer

AI and a Photographer’s Use - What to expect!

The use of AI right now is everywhere and in all the industries. For some, it is a godsend and used for everything to improve everyday life and tasks. For others, it is a sign of the times and a doomsday that is slowly creeping over the world without people knowing the real dangers it possess.

As a photographer I really see the depth of some of the issues of uses in the wedding photography industry. I think it will be very hard in the coming years for real wedding couples to have a realistic expectations of their dream wedding when all the couples on Instagram and their weddings are fake AI images of beautiful fake people with beautiful fake multimillion dollar looking weddings. Here is the thing - AI is getting better every day. I feel like I have had a good idea of what is AI verses not, but I don’t know how much longer that will be.

I truly believe that this AI push in the coming times will make a lot more couples crave something authentic to their personal experience. In a world of fake I know many will want to see the world as it is.

Now, I know you are probably wanting to know how I am using this tool for your wedding day!

I am most often using AI Editing as a removal tool. As a photographer there are times where removing things in the background or foreground will make your image more polished and showcase the part of the image that makes it special or gives emotion. This is something majority of the industry has done for a long time by other tools. With the help of AI as a removal it is saving me on my end countless hours in having help fill these areas. (Photoshop - AI Generative ). In the example below you will see my couple in downtown Minneapolis on the popular Stone Arch Bridge. This bridge will always have people on it as it is a well used walking bridge and a city iconic spot.

This image I used AI to removal all the people in the background so the couple could be center stage in the image

This image I added a little bit of blur to get a sense of movement and the crowd around the couple. I sent both images to my couple so they could enjoy both.

Another way AI editing programs are helping to make my work load a little easier, is there is a program ( Imagen AI) where I have it help get the initial straightening of your image. There are a lot of other ways people are using AI but for now this is how I have been mostly using them.

I believe it is wise to use tools to help give back time to spend with my family. If this is something you are worried before booking please let me know and we can have an open conversation about it.

I’d love to hear more from you if you have thoughts and opinions on this in the comments below!

St. Lawrence Catholic Church Wedding Photography | Liz & Erik | Minneapolis Wedding Photographer

Liz & erik marry at St. Lawrence Catholic Church and host their wedding reception at Kellerman's Event Center

Liz and Erik came to the alter making sure their focus was on the gift of marriage God had given them! It was important to them that they really meditate on the gravity of the morning before saying their vows.

Liz and Erik’s wedding day was on a cooler Minnesota summer day, they married at their home church, St. Lawrence Catholic Church & Newman Center in Minneapolis. Their first look took place down the aisle—an emotional and heartfelt moment as Erik saw Liz for the first time.

For these two, marriage is a blessing they once thought might not happen until they found one another. During the reception speeches, one father quoted Fiddler on the Roof:
“The most miraculous one of all is the one I thought could never be. God has given you to me.”
It was the perfect way to describe Liz and Erik’s love story. (Which the Dj diligently played right after speeches were over to refresh everyone’s memory.)

After the ceremony, we stopped at Stone Arch Bridge in Minneapolis for portraits, then made our way to Matoska Park in White Bear Lake. The joy between them was contagious, and they loved being surrounded by friends and family on such a special day.

A trolley ride from Schmitty and Sons carried the wedding party to the reception at Kellerman’s Event Center. The reception theme was travel, with postcards on each table showcasing adventures from Liz and Erik’s journeys together. One of the most touching tributes of the day honored Liz’s late mother. Her mother and her mother-in-law’s wedding dresses were displayed for guests to admire, their portraits were included. Liz and Erik even cut their cake with the same knife her parents had used at their own wedding. These thoughtful details were a beautiful reminder of the legacy of love that surrounded them.

The evening continued with celebration as friends and family filled the dance floor. From heartfelt beginnings to a fun-filled reception, Liz and Erik’s wedding day was a perfect reflection of their story—one filled with gratitude and deep connection.
