Mounds View Wedding Photography with Mubanga & Brad!

Micro weddings have become a thing in 2020 for brides and grooms whose plans have changed for covid. But even a global pandemic can’t stop the love between two people who desire to become husband and wife. That is the case for Brad and Mubanga. As plans have been adjusted time and time again, one thing has not, their desire to be together during this crazy time.
No matter how you decided to get married, the day you marry your person is still a special one!

Like many people these days, Mubanga and Brad met on a dating app. Although they disagree on who reached out to who first, sparks flew once they started talking. They have a shared love of food, which is why a simple dinner at an Asian restaurant was their first date. Unfortunately, Mubanga hated her dish so much that she ended up eating most of Brad’s instead. He didn’t seem to mind. So it is no surprise that one dinner turned into many. And it was over dinner that Brad asked Mubanga to become his wife.

They had a modest backyard wedding at their Mounds View home with only the closest friends and family in attendance. Due to flying restrictions some of Mubanga’s family in Zambia were unable to attend in person so they had a Zoom Call instead. Even their officiant was on the zoom call! I know the couple were excited that they could be there in spirit and mind. Now, I have to tell you, Mubanga was excited to marry Brad, BUT she was just as excited about her dress! (Can you blame this queen?!) She had it special ordered from one of her favorite Zambian designers back home. With just measurements and her dreams given on the phone a couple of weeks later this masterpiece arrived at their doorstep. One of my favorite details is the circle design was a recurring design for the whole family. Brad’s tie and her son’s held the same design as her dress. Mubanga’s mom has passed from this world, but Mubanga wanted to keep her photo close to her heart all day so she had her photo in a locket around her neck for her special wedding day.

My favorite part of the day was their vows. They recited traditional vows, but when said outloud they were spoken with such heart you could feel them as they were being said, which was very powerful.

During their portraits after the ceremony, this bride and groom were SO excited for their get away up north to Duluth for some solid relaxation just the two of them.

Although this day was short, it was so much fun to be a small part of.

Please enjoy their wedding day sneak peek!

Glenville Wedding Photography | Sara & Isaac | Glenville Wedding Photographer

The day started out with little sprinkles of rain here and there. Sara and Isaac decided to get married on his family's property in Glenville, Minnesota. Sara got ready at his grandparent’s home at the top of the hill. As we were getting ready, Sara told me all the details she loved about her wedding dress, from the belt to the pattern at the bust. This gorgeous dress looked even better when it was finally on Sara!

As for the groom, all morning Isaac had been setting up the reception space at the bottom of the hill right by one of the large ponds! Once the prep was completed, Isaac waited at the dock for their first look. Their first look was so sweet and they both just had big smiles as they did a couple of turns to give the full affect.

Being on such a big property they had the foresight to have golf carts which made all the difference as we drove around for photos! ( I love golf carts on wedding days! ). We drove the whole wedding party to the little island for portraits and right when we wrapped up the clouds rolled away with the sun shining in all its glory!
The ceremony took place with the beautiful backdrop of one of the ponds. The aisle was lined with fresh purple lilac sitting elegant on cut tree stumps. At the the end of the aisle, they said their vows under a beautiful wood arbor decorated with white linen and flowers at the front.

Sara was literally radiating pure joy with the biggest smile on her face as she walked toward her groom. The pianist played the wedding march and for the first time in my entire wedding job she played the entire song. It was a first and Sara and her dad Joe were chuckling a little bit while they waited for the song to come to a close. My favorite part of the day were the vows. Isaac choked up telling Sara how beautiful she was on the outside and more importantly the inside. It was beautiful and vulnerable. During Sara's vows she just said " I am SO Excited, that wasn't part of my vows but I just wanted to let you know." They had a rope tying part to their ceremony to honor how 3 chords together are not easily broken.

The reception details Sara and Isaac put together blew me away! The had a full blow candy table, and a table for their guests to take little ceramic watering cans. The reception was laid back allowing guests to eat and fellowship. One of the fun details was a camera table where the guests could get their photo taken by a Polaroid camera! All those photos taken were then added into a scrapbook for the bride and groom’s guest book.
The whole day was filled with joy and ended with these two love birds tearing up the dance floor!

Please enjoy photos from their wedding day!

South Carolina Wedding Photography | Christian & Emily | Minneapolis Wedding Photographer

This past weekend my BROTHER GOT MARRIED!!!!!! It was been such a packed week as my whole family packed up and flew to South Carolina to celebrate his wedding. We decided to do a sunrise first look at Pretty Place and I seriously think my heart stopped editing these photos! (Marcus resuscitated me a couple of times so no worries there ;) ) Definitely make it to the end to see these photos YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS THEM.

Christian and Emily's wedding day welcomed them with a sunny south carolina day! Both laid back and ready to be married the day reflected their happy go lucky attitudes. It was important to them both that the wedding was close to home so what better place than a Emily's childhood home!  The simple backyard wedding fit their hearts desire of just relaxing with family and friends!  Being so close we made our way to furman university for some more room for Wedding party photos and family formals!! Family formals were interesting as my dad just filled his cell phone with ALL the pictures!  We were just joking around with friends in between photos, which is always the best when your surrounded by people that love you.

The day could not have been more beautiful as a whole. Please enjoy their wedding photos!

PS -  A local barn cat just had kittens two weeks ago at their house! The kitten in the photo details was Emily's favorite that she cuddled with to destress from all the last minute wedding planning!
